Artist Biography

Tony Robinson studied to BA level Fine Art and also achieved a PostGrad Cert in Education in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester.

Tony, Worked for Wexford Arts Centre as Community Visual Artist on mural projects. In addition, Tony opened the Pigyard Gallery and ran Spectrum Art & Framing in Wexford.

Tony is also a founder member of Art in the Open Wexford international plein air festival and runs Castlebridge Art Studio for life drawing and art workshops.

A passionate outdoor oil painter, Tony has travelled to paint in several European countries and in the USA with overseas exhibitions in Dubrovnik and Malta. Participating in some organised plein air events, Tony won first prize at ’Hertogenbosch and Noordwijk in Holland. He was an award-winner at ‘Paint Annapolis’, MD, USA and one of 20 artists invited to take part in ‘Forgotten Coast en Plein Air’ in Florida. He will be on a panel of three judges for ‘Paint Out Norwich’ UK, in October 2018.

Tony has been awarded portrait commissions, including that of former Irish Olympic boxing coach, Billy Walsh and his portrait of artist Michael Mulcahy was exhibited at the RHA annual summer exhibition 2018.
