Last summer, artists and Artform tutors Steve Browning, Aidan Crotty, Neal Greig, Tony Robinson and Dave West had accepted our invitation to spend time during an Artform ‘mini-residency’ painting in the beautiful coastal village of Dunmore East. Hosted by The Strand Inn, Artform’s patron and accommodation partner, artists explored and painted Dunmore East and the surrounding seascape, life, and architecture.
They then formed a judging panel to select work from a Dunmore East themed open-call painting competition. The panel selected artwork to be showcased and awarded a Plein Air Prize to a selected artist – Kate Kos.
The resulting exhibition ‘Painting Dunmore’ featured over 40 invited and selected artworks. It was held in the beautifully located spaces of The Strand Inn, seaside family boutique hotel adjacent to Artform studio, overlooking the Dunmore Bay and Hook Lighthouse.
The exhibition opened with a lively evening opening night in early August. It attracted many visitors with many artworks sold. By popular demand, the show was extended into autumn and featured among Waterford region’s events for the nationwide Culture Night Campaign.
