There are few nicer ways to spend an autumn day than to go out walking in the woods or along the seashore, gather natural objects that catch our eye, and then bring them home for sketching. Shells, crabs and pebbles are easily found near Artform studio all year round, and fungi, colourful leaves, pine cones and fruit found in September make it a time of bounty for the nature sketcher.
In this course, nature will be our inspiration, and we will use natural objects we find in the proximity of the studio to learn the ways of sketching in ink and watercolour. You will learn essential techniques like accurate, strong drawing; wet-in-wet watercolour; glazing; conserving whites; flooding your subject with light, and keeping everything loose. By the end of the course, you will be confident in sketching your found objects to make truly beautiful studies. Róisín will share how she draws and paints a full sketch right there on site, with her special sketching ‘mini-kit’, and help you find out how to get the most pleasure and fun from sketching.
As part of the course, participants will have the exciting opportunity to join Róisín in Artform studio for her weekly online appointment with her international sketching group.
* The course takes place in the Artform modern light-filled studio with 24hr access for each visiting artist, and in the beautiful coastal village of Dunmore East, and runs from 11am to 5pm on the first day and from 10am to 4pm on the subsequent days. On request, Artform offers artist accommodation options. Details on art materials will be provided after signing up to the course.
