Ciara Roche is a painter with upcoming shows in Rathfarnham Castle, RHA and solo at Butler Gallery, Kilkenny in 2024. Previous shows include: nightcall (solo) at Ashford Gallery RHA, Dublin; MATAIRLANDIA at World Trade Centre, Jakarta and Selasar Sunaryo, Bandung in Indonesia 2022; Generation 2022 in Butler Gallery, Kilkenny 2022; of late… (solo) at mother’s tankstation Gallery, Dublin 2021; and Ochre at Wexford Arts Centre 2021. She is shortlisted for the biannual Hennessy Craig/ Homan Potterton Prize, 2024. She was awarded the Next Generation Award with the Arts Council and won the KM Evans painting prize in 2022. In 2020 she won the Éigse Graduate Prize with Carlow Arts Festival for her work in ARTWORKS, Visual.
About the Course
During this 3-day course the artist will take participants through her process from the beginning to the end and will include demonstrations on preparation, the artists wet – on – wet oil painting technique, with emphasis on application, colour, and use of mediums. The artist will then lead participants through some intensive painting exercises with quick timed studies and exercises in reduced colour palettes working both from life and from photographs or found images. The artist will also provide individual tutorials throughout the 3 days so the process is lead by individual needs.
* The course takes place in Artform modern light-filled seaside studio with 24hr access for each visiting artist, and runs from 11am to 5pm on the first day and from 10am to 4pm on the subsequent days. On request, Artform offers artist accommodation options. Details on art materials will be provided after signing up to the course.
