Dave works in a variety of traditional media from oils to street art. For the purpose of this course, he will be focusing on colour layering and textures crated in coloured pencils. The technique will be demonstrated to create complex colours and textures, and accurate skin-tone effects ideal for portraiture but useful across a variety of subjects and media. Dave will offer an overview of various materials and their use and application. He will guide participants through applying colour theory to the layering process. He will offer tips and tricks on creating realistic textures and lead the group in experimenting with mixed media and various substrates. He will offer guidance in choosing reference material for hyper realistic drawings. Attendees will create a drawing of their own choice individually guided by the tutor with a number of short skills demonstrations and group discussions along the way to help guide and inspire.

The course takes place in Artform modern light-filled seaside studio with 24hr access for each visiting artist, and runs from 11am to 5pm on the first day and from 10am to 4pm on the subsequent days.
